SPICOSA is an IP-Integrated Project on Integrated Coastal Zone Management – ICZM, in accordance with theme 6.3 “Global Change & Ecosystems” financed by the funds of the VI Framework Program of the European Community.

SPICOSA has the main purpose of developing multidisciplinary research, providing the tools for sustainable development of the coastal environment, through a balanced consideration of ecological, social and economic aspects according to the objectives of the Coastal Zone (CZ) Systems.

To pursue this goal, the project intends to acquire the scientific methodologies necessary to understand and quantify the responses of coastal ecosystems, in an integrated vision with economic and social activities and their consequences, when these ecosystems are subject to environmental and anthropogenic and local changes. than global.

The results obtained will be enhanced by encouraging the sharing of research carried out, cooperation between end users, and the promotion of a policy of dissemination and promotion of the management methodologies obtained.

SPICOSA is a consortium to which 54 partners belong, including Universities, Research Institutes, Small Medium Enterprises, JRC and CORILA, all operating in environmental research and management of European coastal marine areas, of these 18 are used as Study Sites, for the development of operating methodologies in this sector.

CORILA as Stakeholder, acts as a management, scientific and administrative partner for the Study Site of the Venice Lagoon, with the role of coordinator of the scientific activity that will be carried out in the Venetian lagoon environment, and as administrative and management contact for the Steering Committee in this study area.
