ADRI-PLAN – Adriatic Ionian Maritime Spatial Planning is the project selected for funding as part of the DG-MARE call (MARE / 2012/25) on the theme of maritime spatial planning in the Mediterranean and / or the Black Sea. The proposal focuses its field of intervention in the Adriatic-Ionian Region, outlined by the new strategy of the European Union, called EUSAIR (EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region). Starting from assessments on the regulatory and programmatic framework and on the state of the marine ecosystem, the project will address very practical and concrete issues, such as the coexistence of potentially conflicting uses of the maritime space (fishing, traffic, energy, protected areas, hydrocarbon extraction, etc.) The total budget of the project is 1,250,000 Euros and the expected duration is 18 months (from 10 December 2013 to 10 June 2015). The aim of the project is to acquire knowledge and practical experience in the implementation of maritime spatial planning on the entire Adriatic-Ionian macro-region and in particular on two specific areas: the northern Adriatic and the area that includes the southern Adriatic and the northern Ionian. . The reference framework is that of the implementation of the Integrated Maritime Policy, based on the eco-systemic approach and on the transposition of Directive 2008/56 / EC on the strategy for the marine environment, through a planning of the maritime space that also takes into account the Integrated coastal zone management. The proposing consortium, led by CNR-ISMAR, includes national technical-scientific partners such as the IUAV University of Venice, CONISMA (National Interuniversity Consortium for Marine Sciences), OGS (National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics) and CORILA which participates as a subcontractor. The international partnership includes partners from Slovenia, Croatia and Greece (e.g. Regional Razvojni Center of Koper, the University of Thessaly, the HCMR- Hellenic Center for Marine Research). There are also numerous institutional partners: almost all the Italian regions of the Adriatic-Ionian coastal strip (Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Marche, Molise, Puglia) and a significant nucleus of Croatian and Greek coastal regions, the Port Authority of Venice (which also represents NAPA – Association of North Adriatic Ports). Finally, among the “observers” formally involved there are the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea (MATTM), the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean, the JRC, the Adriatic-Ionian Euro region, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment of Slovenia, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change of Greece.
