The PEGASE project is funded under Galileo’s 7th Framework Program 1st call (call GALILEO-2007-4.1-01 “GSA Support”). CORILA, through a subcontract, has collaborated with the PEGASE project with the aim of collecting the most significant initiatives relating to GNSS and its applications within the regions belonging to NEREUS.

CORILA’s activity took place during the period February – September 2010.

To this end, CORILA, in collaboration with the Secretariat of NEREUS and Capital High Tech, developed a form for the collection of initiatives which was distributed to all members of NEREUS; the template was organized so that each experience was described in all its characteristics: application domain, financing structure and main contents.

The initiatives collected come from 15 NEREUS regions and cover a wide range of different areas, including: clusters (eg Madrid Cluster Aerospace and bavAIRia eV); Galileo’s test bed (eg GATE – German GALILEO Test and Development Environment and SEA GATE in the port of Rostock); research centers on GNSS applications (e.g. GRACE-East Midland center of excellence, Forum SatNav MIT BW eV of Baden-Wurttemberg, Cesah-Center for Satellite navigation Hesse) and a number of projects showing the different potentials of the applications of GNSS.

A first collection of experiences was presented during the “Regional approaches to the European Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) program” Workshop, jointly organized by NEREUS and CORILA, held on 24 March 2010 in Brussels. This workshop gave the opportunity to discuss the current state and subsequent developments of the GNSS program, and the most relevant experiences already acquired by some regions. The number of participants was about 30 people.

The information collected is available online on a GNSS portal, where the different regions and related initiatives are described (http://www.gnss-in-eu-regions.info/). Furthermore, the PEGASE project has periodically submitted to the GSA (GNSS Supervisory Authority) a report on the progress of the project.

The final results of the project were presented at the GSA, during the NEREUS-PEGASE Meeting, held in Brussels on 29 September 2010.
